About Gospel Unbound

Christ-centered, truth-seeking movement committed to setting the Good News free from fear, distortion, and religious captivity.

We exist to proclaim the unfailing love of God, the victorious work of Jesus, and the sacred worth of every person. Through teaching, writing, events, conversation, and community, we help people release fear-based doctrines and rediscover faith rooted in love, freedom, restoration, and the true character of God.

How it started

In the summer of 2026, Julie traveled to Jupiter, FL to meet up with a small group of like-minded people who shared the vision of sharing the message of her book <a href="https://www.raisinghellbook.com" title="Raising Hell b">Raising Hell</a> and developing it into a global movement to set people free from the fear of hell and the chains of religious captivity. And from those first video calls and in-person meetings, the movement slowly grew.

Our goal was to replace fear with love...and then thousands were naturally drawn to that message.

We understand that leaving religion can involve real grief and trauma. Our community and resources are designed with this reality in mind.

LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally diverse, and committed to hearing voices that have historically been silenced within religious spaces.

We are not a church. We are not a theology school. We are a community — and community is the thing we protect most fiercely.

Julie Ferwerda

CO-FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Julie Ferwerda is an author, speaker, and truth-seeker whose work invites people to rediscover the heart of God beyond fear-based religion. She is the author of Raising Hell: Christianity’s Most Controversial Doctrine Put Under Fire, a widely read and deeply researched exploration of the doctrine of hell, the history of Christian belief, and the breathtaking hope of God’s restorative love. Bob Bew

Pastor, Teacher & Ministry Voice

Bob Bew is a longtime pastor and Bible teacher based in Jupiter, Florida. He has served through Word Alive Church and has devoted many years to teaching, preaching, and helping people encounter the living Christ in fresh and transformative ways. Through his teaching ministry, including his online video channel BobBewOnline / What Is Jesus Doing?, Bob explores faith, Scripture, and the active work of Jesus with a heart for spiritual awakening, renewed understanding, and practical transformation. His voice brings pastoral depth, theological curiosity, and a lived commitment to helping people see God more clearly. As part of the Gospel Unbound Ministries team, Bob brings decades of ministry experience and a passion for proclaiming the goodness of God beyond fear, limitation, and religious confinement.

Bian Keim

CO-FOUNDER & MINISTRY OUTREACH

Brian is a personal trainer and life coach who attends Jupiter 1st Church in Jupiter, Florida. As part of the Gospel Unbound Ministries team he will be helping support the mission through events, community connection, and ministry outreach.

Stephen Ferwerda

TECH MANAGER

Born and raised up in Beirut, Lebanon and the Middle East as a devout missionary kid, as well as a graduate of Wheaton College, Stephen deconstructed christianity and religion in his late thirties alongside Julie when he became increasingly disillusioned with the hypocrisies of mainstream christianity. Now he helps manage and maintain their beautiful Airbnb and <a href="https://www.refugiopuertorico.com/" title="Refugio Mountain Retreat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">retreat center</a> in the central mountains of Puerto Rico while supporting the tech side of Gospel Unbound as well as other exciting digital projects.
